Assets is a non-profit organization in Anchorage with the mission to consistently improve the employment opportunities, home environments, and community connections of individuals with developmental disabilities and/or mental illnesses who need substantial supports. We believe that by doing so their independence and self-worth are enhanced and the community in which they live, and work realizes the benefits of their citizenship.

Assets has had a presence in the Anchorage community for over 40 years; founded by determined parents and friends of individuals with disabilities. In 1980, a print shop, bindery and other in-house contracts provided employment opportunities to individuals served by Assets. Today, the print shop is still in operation. Assets has grown to include many other employment opportunities including janitorial contracts throughout the Anchorage bowl, as well as supporting people to obtain and and sustain employment with local employers. Assets began providing supported living services in 1984, in which disabilities support, and mental health treatment are offered in the home and community. Assets also provides therapy services in a clinic setting.

Assets has embraced change and incorporated cutting edge thinking into its service delivery system. New understandings about how individuals with disabilities are best supported have been the foundation of our services.

Our overall purpose, for individuals with disabilities to thrive in and contribute to their community, inspires and challenges us each and every day. We invite you to join us in recognizing the accomplishments over the last 43 years, and in continuing our commitment to make an even greater difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities in the 21st century.
